Matthew & Paige, Gellifawr Woodland Retreat, Wedding Videography
Matthew & Paige’s Gellifawr Woodland Retreat Wedding Videographer
On 25th May 2026, I had the pleasure of capturing Matthew and Paige’s beautiful wedding at Gellifawr Woodland Retreat in Pembrokeshire.
I was the Gellifawr Woodland Retreat Wedding Videographer for the day, but also provided the photography for their wedding, which meant I was able to document their day from both perspectives. For this blog, though, I’m concentrating on their wedding film and what made Gellifawr such a fantastic location for wedding videography.
From the quiet anticipation of the morning preparations through to the ceremony, speeches, first dance and evening celebrations, there was so much to bring together into their finished wedding film.
Wedding Videography at Gellifawr Woodland Retreat
Gellifawr Woodland Retreat is tucked away in the Pembrokeshire countryside near Fishguard, surrounded by woodland, greenery and beautiful grounds.
From a wedding videography point of view, it’s a brilliant venue to work at. Having the preparations, ceremony and reception all taking place at the same venue meant I could concentrate on capturing the story of the day without losing time travelling between locations.
The grounds also gave us plenty of opportunities to step outside with Matthew and Paige for some beautiful couple footage, particularly around the ponds and surrounding countryside.
Those little sequences are really important in a highlights film. They give the film room to breathe between the bigger moments of the day and allow me to create something that feels cinematic while still being completely natural to the couple.
Capturing the Morning Preparations
My coverage began at around 8am, well ahead of Matthew and Paige’s midday ceremony.
Paige was getting ready in the bridal suite while Matthew had his own preparations taking place separately in the groom’s room.
I love including morning preparations in a wedding film because they help build the story towards the ceremony. It’s often one of the few quieter parts of the wedding day, but there’s still so much happening – the finishing touches, conversations, nerves, excitement and everyone gradually realising that the wedding is actually about to happen.
Because I was providing both photography and videography, I could also make sure the two worked together throughout the morning rather than having a separate photographer and videographer competing for the same moments.
Matthew & Paige’s Gellifawr Wedding Ceremony
Guests began arriving from around 11am ready for the ceremony at midday.
The ceremony is always one of the most important parts of wedding videography. Photographs preserve individual moments beautifully, but film gives you something completely different – movement, voices, expressions and all those little reactions that happen in between.
My approach is to capture the ceremony as unobtrusively as possible so that the couple and their guests can concentrate on what’s actually happening rather than feeling as though they’re performing for a camera.
Those genuine moments then become some of the most important parts of the finished wedding film.
Exploring the Grounds at Gellifawr
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed drinks and nibbles while we made the most of the grounds surrounding Gellifawr.
Matthew and Paige wanted a mixture of styles for their couple portraits, so we kept everything relaxed and varied.
While I was capturing their wedding photographs, I also filmed sequences of the two of them together around the grounds and near the ponds. Rather than constantly asking couples to repeat moments specifically for video, I try to work efficiently between the two so everything continues to feel natural.
It’s one of the advantages of booking photography and videography together – I already know exactly what I need from each part of the day and can make the two forms of coverage complement one another.

Capturing the Speeches on Film
Following the wedding breakfast, it was time for the speeches.
Matthew and Paige had speeches from Larry, the father of the bride, followed by Matthew himself.
Speeches are one of the parts of a wedding day that really demonstrate the value of having a wedding videographer. Photographs can capture the laughter and reactions around the room, but video preserves the actual voices, stories and words being shared.
I also make a point of capturing the reactions happening around the room rather than simply pointing a camera at whoever is speaking. Sometimes the best moment isn’t the joke itself – it’s the reaction from the bride, groom, parents or guests immediately afterwards.
These little moments help make every wedding film completely personal to the couple.
First Dance and Evening Celebrations
As the afternoon moved into the evening, Matthew and Paige cut their wedding cake before taking to the dance floor for their first dance.
This is where the atmosphere of a wedding changes completely. The formal parts of the day are finished, everyone starts to relax and the celebrations really begin.
For me, it’s another important part of telling the complete story. A wedding film shouldn’t just show the romantic parts of the day – it should also capture what it actually felt like to be there.
The movement, music, laughter and energy of the evening are exactly the kinds of things that video can preserve in a way photographs alone can’t.

Here’s the finished highlights film from Matthew and Paige’s wedding at Gellifawr Woodland Retreat:
Matthew and Paige’s film brings together moments from throughout their day, from the preparations that morning through to their ceremony, time together around the grounds, speeches and evening celebrations.
My aim with every wedding film is to create something that doesn’t simply show what happened, but brings back how the wedding actually felt.
