I’m Katrina, the photographer and videographer behind Shutter Hire.
Based in Penarth with my two children, Ava and Oliver, I work across Cardiff, the Vale of Glamorgan and throughout the UK, capturing moments that families and couples can treasure forever.
My passion for photography began in childhood, inspired by my father’s love of cameras and film. I went on to study Film and Video Production at the University of Derby, before founding Shutter Hire in 2013 after the birth of my first child. What started as a small home studio has grown into a multi–award-winning business with a dedicated space in Dinas Powys.
At Shutter Hire, my focus is on creating timeless imagery and films with a personal touch. From newborn and family portraits to wedding photography and cinematic videography, I approach every project with care, creativity and professionalism.

My Skills & Expertise
I bring a unique combination of creative skills, professional training and business knowledge to every project. With a BA (Hons) in Film and Video Production from the University of Derby, I have a strong foundation in visual storytelling and technical craft.
I’m also a qualified drone operator, holding a Level 4 Drone Certificate, which enables me to capture stunning aerial photography and videography safely and legally. This specialist skill adds a new dimension to weddings, events and commercial projects across Cardiff and South Wales.
Alongside my creative qualifications, I also hold a CIM Level 4 Certificate in Professional Marketing, giving me an in-depth understanding of branding, digital strategy and audience engagement. This means my work is not only visually compelling but also aligned with your goals — whether personal or commercial.
