LIFESTYLE SESSION
A lifestyle family photoshoot aims to capture genuine and authentic moments of a family in a location of their choice, where your family feels most connected and comfortable. Katrina often uses Cosmeston Country Lakes and Penarth Beach as her backdrop and focuses on documenting real-life moments, interactions, and emotions in a candid way using unposed moments. Outdoor sessions also offer the advantage that you don’t have to limit the amount of participants that take part in your session.
STUDIO SESSION
A studio family photoshoot offers a different aesthetic compared to lifestyle photography, focusing on creating polished, well-lit, and beautifully composed images within a controlled indoor environment. Shutter Hire photography studio is located in Dinas Powys, a maximum of 5 adults can fit on the 3M width backdrops, and backdrops are available in a range of colours.
Sessions include full family portraits, individual portraits, and smaller group compositions.

No printing is performed in-house, Shutter Hire has sourced a professional lab known for its expertise in handling high-quality printing processes. All products meet industry standards in terms of colour accuracy, sharpness, and longevity.
Katrina believes in exceeding expectations and clients have the flexibility to choose from various print sizes, colours and finishes to suit their specific needs. Prints are fade-resistant which contributes to the longevity of your printed photographs.

What should we wear?
What you wear is ultimately a personal preference, in my opinion, it’s best to avoid overly matching, instead, you could choose complimenting colours. Consider the location or backdrop colours – for outdoor shoots, choose weather-appropriate clothing, and for studio sessions, solid colours often work well.
How long does a typical family photoshoot session last?
The duration varies based on the package chosen. Generally, sessions last between 1 to 2 hours. This allows enough time for various poses, groupings, and location changes if applicable.
Can we include pets in our family photoshoot?
Absolutely! Well-behaved pets are welcome at Shutter Hire photography studio, and it is encouraged that families bring their furry friends along. Just let Katrina know in advance so that she can plan accordingly.
What if my child is uncooperative or shy during the photoshoot?
It's completely normal for children to be a bit shy or restless. Katrina is a mother herself and understands young children and their needs. She is skilled at creating a comfortable and enjoyable environment. Patience is key, and she works at the child's pace to capture genuine moments.
Can we choose the location for our family photoshoot?
Yes, definitely! Whether you prefer a natural outdoor setting, the comfort of your home, or our studio, we are flexible and can discuss the best location that suits your family's personality.
How soon can we expect to receive the final images?
The turnaround time for image delivery depends on the package and post-production requirements. Generally, you can expect to receive a sneak peek within a week, and the full set within 2 to 3 weeks.
Do digital files come with print release?
You'll receive high-resolution images, and you are free to print them for personal use. Katrina can also assist you with professional prints and products if desired.
What if it rains on the day of our outdoor photoshoot?
The weather will be monitored in the lead-up to your session. If it looks like rain, then plans can be made to reschedule.
